Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms before donating, coming out to meet the sleigh, or using this website. By doing any of these things, you're agreeing to them.

Who We Are

Santa Super Sleigh Salford is run by volunteers from the 100th Salford (St Luke's) Scout Group, part of The Scout Association (a registered charity in England and Wales). We visit the Irlams o' th' Height and Pendlebury neighbourhoods of Salford each December to spread some Christmas cheer and raise funds for the Group.

Sleigh Visits & Timings

The times shown on this site for each street are our best estimate, based on the planned route. They aren't guaranteed:

• The sleigh can run early or late due to traffic, weather, road closures, the number of people who come out to meet us, or other things outside our control.
• We may need to shorten, reroute, delay, or cancel a visit at short notice — for example in poor weather, or for the safety of our volunteers or the public. Where we can, we'll post updates on our Facebook page.
• We can't guarantee that every street in our catchment will be visited on every planned date, and we don't cover every street in Salford — see the FAQs on our About page for why.

We're not liable for any loss, cost, or disappointment if the sleigh doesn't reach your street when expected, or at all on a given night.

Donations

Any donation you make — whether handed to a volunteer on the night or made online — is entirely voluntary and given as a gift to support the 100th Salford Scout Group's activities for young people. There's no obligation to donate, and donating doesn't entitle you to any particular service, priority, or reward in return.

• Cash donations collected on the street are given directly to our volunteers and go towards Group funds. As with any cash gift, we're not able to offer refunds once a donation has been made.
• Online donations are processed through our third-party payment provider (currently Square). Your payment details are handled by them, not by us, and are subject to their own terms and privacy policy. We aren't responsible for errors, delays, or issues on the payment provider's part.
• Donations are used to support the running of the 100th Salford Scout Group — equipment, activities, camping trips, training for our volunteer leaders, and keeping Scouting accessible to local young people, as described on our About page.

Meeting the Sleigh Safely

Our sleigh and volunteers operate on public roads and pavements, often in the dark and around traffic, so we ask everyone who comes out to meet us to help keep the visit safe:

• Please follow the directions of our volunteers and any marshals, and keep a safe distance from the sleigh and its towing vehicle while it's moving.
• Children should be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times while near the sleigh, the road, or our volunteers.
• We aren't able to offer rides on the sleigh, or guarantee it will stop for photos on every street — our volunteers will use their judgement on the night, balancing this against the safety of everyone present and the rest of the route still to run.
• If your child would like to give Santa a letter or card, our volunteers are happy to take it, but we can't guarantee any specific action will be taken as a result, and we won't keep any personal details it contains beyond the night itself.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we don't accept liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from your attendance at a sleigh visit, except where that liability can't be excluded under English law (for example, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud).

Our Volunteers

Everyone who volunteers with us does so through the 100th Salford Scout Group, and our Group follows The Scout Association's policies, including its safeguarding guidance for anyone working with young people. If you have any concerns about a volunteer's conduct, please get in touch using the details below.

Photography & Video

We sometimes take photos or video during our sleigh visits — for example of the sleigh, our volunteers, or the crowds who come out to see us — to share on our Facebook page and this website. By attending a visit in a public place, you may appear incidentally in this content. If you'd rather not be included, just let one of our volunteers know on the night and we'll do our best to accommodate that. Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether they're happy for their children to appear in these photos.

Santa Sightings & Other Interactive Features

This site lets you search for your street, view the live route map, and submit "Santa sighting" reports that are shown publicly to help others track our progress. Please use these features responsibly and only submit genuine information — we may remove or ignore reports that look inaccurate, abusive, or intended to mislead. See our Privacy Policy for what we collect when you use these features.

Using This Website

This website is provided to help you find out when and where the sleigh is visiting, and to support our fundraising. A few general points on using it:

• We try to keep route, date, and time information accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee it will always be complete or error-free, and we may change routes, dates, or other content at any time without notice.
• The site links out to third-party services (including Facebook, Google Maps, what3words, and our donation payment provider). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, which we don't control and aren't responsible for.
• The text, graphics, and branding on this site belong to the 100th Salford Scout Group (or are used with permission) and shouldn't be reproduced elsewhere without asking us first — sharing our posts on social media is, of course, very welcome.
• Please don't misuse the site — for example by trying to overload it, scrape it at scale, or interfere with how it works for other visitors.

Volunteering

If you sign up as a volunteer through our Volunteer Portal, your use of that portal (shift sign-up, reminders, and related tools) is also covered by these terms and by our Privacy Policy, alongside any separate guidance the Group gives you directly as a volunteer (for example, safeguarding or on-the-night safety briefings).

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can't be limited or excluded under English law. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, the 100th Salford Scout Group excludes liability for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website or your attendance at a sleigh visit.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example as our activities or the site change. Significant changes will be posted on this page. These terms were last updated in September 2026.
